AKS Ward was commissioned to undertake detailed design of the redevelopment of the Tank Museum at Bovington, Dorset. A number of scheme design solutions were investigated, looking at the merits of positioning the building in a variety of locations on the site before selecting the solution to be developed to RIBA Stage D level.
Detailed design was then completed before novation to the contractor. The complex roof shape was developed using computer aided design. The project used lime stabilised soils, reinforced earth, and coloured concrete.
