Part of a batch of 3 schools procured under the DfE Framework, the project involved the construction of a new build four storey, 1,700 place 6th Form College (16 -19 years) with associated external works in Bury St Edmunds on existing playing fields owned by Suffolk County Council.
The college comprises specialist laboratories, arts and graphics spaces, music rooms and recording studios, ICT business study rooms, a drama studio, a dance studio and an unusual 2nd floor sports hall with a jack up spring floating floor, alongside general teaching classrooms and administrative facilities.
Construction followed the principles of the ‘Adapt’ system developed by Wates and their team to deliver flexible economic teaching space.
