New four-storey concrete-framed Academic Building, achieving BREEAM Excellent.
Major earthworks involving the removal of 30,000 cubic metres of spoil were required to accommodate the building, which has an attached semi-basement lecture theatre.
Structural features include 11m clear span post-tensioned floor and roof slabs, and 26m long clear span steel roof beams over the lecture theatre.
The main building is separated into two blocks by the central atrium; the building having been designed to complement the existing 1960s Sir Basil Spence Campus.
