AKS Ward was involved in specialist design for the construction of traditional brick arches relating to the new hotel addition of this major redevelopment. In addition, AKS Ward was commissioned to provide advice on lime mortar used throughout the project and advised on the original stone staircases, and other historic aspects of the structure.
This work is typical of our specialist skill in the design of traditional masonry construction; the design of a very thin wall, profiled to reflect the articulated existing face of St Pancras Station.
The soft brickwork is laid in lime mortar, which allows it to be constructed without expansion joints.
