Romford Leisure Topping-out Ceremony
Hosted by Simon Cook of Willmott Dixon, AKS Ward were invited to attend the formal topping-out ceremony for the £28M flagship Romford Ice Rink and Swimming Pool complex on the 17th May 2017.
The construction includes an eight-lane pool for competitions, gymnasium, and first floor 56m by 26m ice rink; the new home for the ice hockey team, the London Raiders.
The topping-out ceremony also included senior representatives of Havering Council, the client project team, key trades, and Willmott Dixon.
It provided a good opportunity for the client to take some PR photos for the local press and allowed the client and client teams to take a walk around the site to see the work in progress, followed by drinks and refreshments afterwards. Praise was well received for AKS Ward’s structural solution to a complex build. The estimated completion for works is December 2017.
